Lead by Being Available

One of the best rules of parenting is to be around when your kids are around. Many active parents lament the fact that their kids rarely interact with them when they get home after school. Therefore, why not work a little longer or go for a run. The key however, is that you are available if they did decide to interact.

A child learning to express his/her freedom will express independence by slowly drifting away from mom and dad, as long as mom and dad remain in sight.  But the same child will become anxious and loose confidence when mom and dad are out of sight.

This principle is applicable in the business world. A leader’s presence is reassuring. A leader doesn’t have to make all the decision, but he/she should always be available.
